Check to See if All Car Doors & Trunk are Locked
The first thing that you want to do is you have left your keys in your car sounds ridiculously silly but we promise that it is not. Check to make sure all of the doors are locked and all of the windows are rolled up! We know, we know – that sounds silly. We cannot tell you how many times we have been called out to help with an auto lockout only to find that the door was not actually locked on the car and they could have saved themselves the cost of having us come out if they had just checked all of their doors.
Dog, Pet or Small Child Locked in Car
Second on the list is extremely important. If you have indeed locked your keys in your car you will want to check that you have not locked any pets or children in the car as well. If there is a child in your car that is old enough to open the door your car key problem will be fixed in no problem. Unfortunately, many times the child that is in the car is not old enough to open the door for you. If there is a child or pet in a locked car you will want to call the police immediately! This is especially true if the weather is either extremely hot or cold. Your child or pet can die if they are locked inside the car for too long.
Spare or Replacement Car Key
Next up you will want to see if one of your friends or family members can help you get your spare key and bring it down to you. Cars always come with two sets of keys. If your car does not have two sets of keys you will want to have a second key made right away. Then if you end up locked out of your car you can simply have someone bring you your extra key and you will be back on the road in no time.
